Last night there was a confrontation between the Mister and Missus over a cheap suit he wanted to wear to a dinner party. And I went to my apartment not knowing if they went to the party or not.
Well, this morning at 9:15 Eleanor (the Upstairs Maid) reported there were "separate sleeping arrangements" last night!
According to Eleanor, the Master Bedroom was disheveled but empty; the Mister was sleeping in his favorite Guest Room (the Brown Room), and the Missus was in the Pink Room. (All of which means a lot of bedrooms to tidy up today!)
But it also means we should all take cover!
I myself (the butler) hid out all day and polished a little silver in the Butler's Closet . Ha! They never think to look for me in here!
Nelda, the Housekeeper, decided she was ill and took a sick day. And Eleanor spent her morning working downstairs! Ha!
They came down to breakfast at separate times, she at about 10:00, he at 11:20. And they did not take their morning walk together. (Now to us this doesn't just mean hide, but try to disappear altogether!)
I still don't know if they went to the dinner party together or not, in spite of the Mister's cheap suit. But Eleanor said the Mrs' cocktail dress was all wrinkled (a clue that she went).
And when they finally left today just after noon (he to the office and she off to lunch with girlfriends), I went upstairs and poked around until I finally found the offending suit -- hanging in the Good Will closet! Ha!
So there we have it, and I guess that's that. Problem and resolution, in their own billionaire sort of way.
But it certainly appears that the Missus got the upper hand in this argument. And apparently I'll be making a trip to Good Will soon.
For the most part, working for this family is fun. But sometimes things get get a little nutty, if not downright silly.
Thanks for reading, and good night,
Andrew
My husband and I often have "seperate sleeping arrangements". It does us both good, and we always seem to work things out and get back together. And btw, we're not anywhere near rich!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that. We all need some space and alone time now and then. Human nature, I guess. And I'm glad you can use the space to work things out. Some people can't, and just call it quits.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading,
Andrew
Really enjoying reading your blog posts. I will continue to follow the butler. Ha!
