The Pope's Butler???

______________________________________________

I'm sure you've all heard the news about the Pope's butler being arrested!

OMG!

So I just got an email from Miss Helen that said, and I quote,  "I hear there's a vacancy in the Pope's office.  Could be your ticket to Italy :)"

OMG!

But wait now, let me think.....

--  If you've been reading for very long, you know what affinities I have for Italia, and how much I'd love to live there!

--  And I am a qualified Butler!  (Well, give or take.)

--  But the icing on the cake?   I'm Catholic!!!

I should update my resume immediately!  Right?

And send it off to the Vatican!!!  omg!

(If hired,  I would of course need internet connection in my room  -- and a side door to slip out at night!  Ha!)

Do you think Pope Benedict would mind if I blog about him on the world wide web?  (Or is that the reason his current Butler's butt is in jail?  Spilling the beans!)

Oh my dear God!

Please do forgive me this nuttiness tonight!

I'm just having a party in my own brain -- maybe with a couple of martinis.  Dreaming about living inside the Vatican.  Rendering services to His Holiness.

And running out that side door at night to my beloved Rome!

(I'm going to publish this tonight, because when I wake up sober tomorrow I'm absolutely sure I'll delete the whole thing!)

I leave for Rome next week with Mister Lucas for his vacation. Maybe I will throw off his shackles and beg the Pope for a job! Ha!

    1. Have fun on that trip, dude!

But if you get that job before I do, I'll kick your "Valiant Valet" butt from here to Kingdom Come!

      Ha!

I hope to have a great time! I will be busy mostly attending to Mister Lucas but he said I will have 1 day off a week to do site seeing and enjoy the country. Here's hoping this trip lets me let loose some and Mister Lucas begins seeing me as a person, instead of the "Master-Servant relationship" right now. And no need to worry. I enjoy the California sun too much to leave and work for the Pope! Ha!

  2. I can't stop laughing! Would love for you to get that job Andrew, and "spill the beans" about Pope Benedict. In Prague here, we are enjoying your Catholic derangement, especially the "Ave Marias" you have sent our way. One Catholic to another, get that job!!!

    1. Hello Michelle!

What a delightful comment! And so glad you and your friends in Prague enjoyed the Ave Marias! What more intriguing music has ever been written?

But you do understand I was just kidding about sending a resume to the Vatican. That would be a dream never realized.

In any case, while my Italian is good, it's not good enough to "spill the beans". Ha!

      Thank you for reading, Michelle!

I was just looking at the internet about all the troubles we have here right now about the Pope's butler, and found your blog. I live inside the Vatican, and you are wise in wanting a room with a side door! We all try to "slip out" when we can. Thank you for helping us laugh our way through this very serious situation. You do realize that by mentioning the Pope you are now under observation by both the Vatican and Interpol. Just a word of advice.

    1. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME TO HAVE A READER INSIDE THE VATICAN!!!

Is this comment for real? I hope so, and hope you never stop writing to me! Have visited the Vatican several times in life. Even saw our beloved Pope John Paul sitting outside one day, in an audience with school children.

And thank you for your advice. But I'm aware that whenever I mention any dignitaries, from Regina, Queen Elizabeth to Pope Benedict, that I'm under observation. And that's ok, I've learned to live with it.

But as I have no malice in my heart, they seem to understand, and haven't beaten down my doors yet. I completely understand their reasons for inquiry, balanced against freedom of speech.

PLEASE stay in touch. And God bless us all in this complicated situation!

I will stay in touch, Andrew. And next time you are in Roma, please get in touch. I can show you places in the Vatican that few get to see.

And thank you for your well wishes. This event with the Butler is not going away soon for us.

  4. Thank you for that invitation!!!

Makes me want to book a flight this evening! Would be thrilled to be escorted around the Vatican by an insider!

This business with il Papa's butler has already dropped off the news here. So I don't know what's going on. Hope you'll keep me advised of any resolutions, and hope Pope Benedict will most certainly survive this blip. He's a highly intelligent man, and the only one I can imagine to follow il Papa, John Paul.
